Commonly Asked Questions
How Much Electric Power Will My Kit Supply?
The Solar Power Kit you choose will depend on your present needs.
Keep in mind that each solar module collects energy every day,
so your system is working even while you are away.
Based on an average of 5.5 hours of sunlight per day your kit
will provide enough power to run the following appliances every
day. Hours of appliance operation should double or triple if you
use your cottage only on weekends.
We recommend that your fridge, stove, hot water heater, dryer,
freezer, heaters and any other large appliances be run using propane.
Your Solar Electric System will provide the electricity for all
your other needs, lights, TV, VCR, computers, motors, power tools,
water pumps, kitchen appliances, microwave, stereos, etc..
Run your cottage or Remote Home just like a Normal house with
120 volts of electricity, with one exception, NO HYDRO BILLS.
If your cottage is already wired then these kits just hook up
to your Main Breaker Panel. If you are running off a Generator
now, all you have to do is hook the Solar System to your Main
Breaker Panel and use your Generator as a Backup System. All kits
are designed to meet Ontario Hydro approval.
Substitution?
We offer our Solar Power Kits as either complete systems, however
you may mix and match any of the sub-kits: solar modules; batteries;
hardware; and wiring to meet your needs. Any items you may already
have (i.e. batteries) may be omitted from the system. If you are
uncertain of what you require please contact us anytime. We'll
be happy to help !
