Solar Grid-Tie home systems

Sun Volts Unlimited’s Solar Grid-Tie Systems are designed for all types of residential applications. We also custom design systems for any type of application or building, and all our systems have been designed to meet the current Electrical Code. Our experienced sales staff and qualified installers will make the installation of your system a simple project for you. We have designed the systems below so they can operate on either the Feed In Tariff Program or a Net Metering System.

The Feed In Tariff Program (MicroFit) is offered by the utility companies in Ontario. This is where the utility company purchases all the electricity that you produce from your solar system at a rate of $.802 per kilowatt-hour. All solar electric systems under 10 kilowatts qualify for this great rate. The electricity you buy from the utility company will only cost you the current rate per kilowatt-hour, which is approximately $.06 per kilowatt-hour. The $.802 rate is guaranteed for 20 years by The Ontario Power Authority through your local utility company.

Grid Tie Systems With Batteries are similar to the Grid Tie Systems Without Batteries, except that they have a battery storage bank. They also have a second electrical panel powering the essential electrical loads in case of a black out from the grid. When the electrical grid is operating normally the batteries are kept fully charged. When the grid goes down, the power from the batteries and the solar array provide power to your essential loads. Solar Grid Tie Systems with batteries can only be used with the Net Metering Program. Net Metering uses the excess electricity you produce to spin your meter backwards and when your grid tie system does not produce enough energy for your household, the additional power is purchased from the utility company, thus making your meter spin forward. Our Grid Tie Systems with or without batteries work on this program.

Sun Volts Unlimited Solar Grid Tie Systems with or without batteries provide reliable power using only top quality products. Each system includes a 25 year warranty on Solar Modules, roof mount frames and our installed kits include all electrical permits, installation costs, and all taxes. All of our kits are designed so that you may add additional solar modules in the future if you wish. Most of our kits include roof mounting of the solar panels, however if this is not suitable, a pole mount or ground mount option may be required.

Solar Grid Tie Systems With Batteries

These grid-tie systems include quality equipment to provide utility quality power. Installations meet the Ontario Electrical and Safety Code requirements for years of safe, reliable electric generation. Systems are available in a variety of models. Utility meter is not included in our kits.

These systems will also provide back up power in the event of a power outage, since they include batteries.
