high capacity batteries. They are ideal for larger solar or wind
electrical systems. They range in capacity from 836ah to 1672ah.

Surrette Batteries
Sun Volts Unlimited also sells Surrette Batteries. The
most common ones used in Solar applications are either the
460 amp hour @ 100 hr. or the 530 amp hour @ 100 hr. Both
of these are 6 volt batteries which are popular for small
to mid size home systems. We can also supply other Surrette

Sizing Your Battery Bank
For residential and cottage power systems we highly recommend
deep-cycle batteries. The deep-cycle batteries that we supply
are designed to handle repeated cycles of heavy discharge and
recharge without damage to the battery. Sizing your battery bank
is dependent on a few factors: the loads you want to run, how
often you run them, how long of an autonomy period do you want
to have and the charging system. Having a balance between the
size of your battery bank and the output of your solar modules
or wind generator is also an important factor to take into consideration.
Maintenance Tips for Your Batteries
With appropriate maintenance and care to your batteries our Standard
6 volt deep cycle batteries have a life expectancy of approximately
5-7 years, and our Industrial 6 volt deep cycle batteries approximately
7-10 years.
- If kept charged you will get longer service from your batteries.
- Use a charge controller/regulator to prevent your batteries
from over-charging. Please call us to size a controller/regulator
for your system.
- Approximately every one - two months we recommend that you
inspect your batteries. Add distilled water to deep-cycle batteries
if needed, clean post, and remove any acid residue. Please consult
an expert if you have any questions regarding battery maintenance.
- Prevent your batteries from freezing by keeping them charged.
